The Bilateral Chamber of Commerce Bulgaria-Romania took part in the celebration of Europe Day in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia

The festive event was organized in partnership with the Sofia Municipality, the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria, the European Parliament Office in Bulgaria, and the European Investment Bank, and brought together residents and visitors to the capital, representatives of diplomatic missions, institutions, the business community, and cultural circles in an atmosphere of unity, solidarity, and friendship among the peoples of Europe.

In Bulgaria, the May 9 celebrations began with the symbolic arrival by bicycle of representatives from the diplomatic missions of European Union member states and official guests, all wearing pink jerseys—the iconic symbol of the world-famous Giro d’Italia cycling race. This year, the race also passes through Bulgaria, which further linked the European holiday with the ideas of sports, movement, traditions, and international cooperation.

The Bilateral Chamber of Commerce Bulgaria-Romania (BCCBR) participated in the event at the invitation of the Sofia Municipality, providing two booths for our long-standing members Emag and Synevo Bulgaria, located in the “European Village” area adjacent to the stage.Through its presence, BCCBR once again demonstrated its consistent commitment to and support for its members, as well as its dedication to presenting the organization’s activities and vision to the general public.

Europe Day symbolizes peace, democracy, freedom, and cooperation among European nations. The holiday serves as a reminder of the importance of working together to build a united Europe based on mutual respect, tolerance, equal opportunities, and cultural diversity. It was precisely these values that shaped the atmosphere during the event in Sofia. Official greetings to the attendees were delivered by the Mayor of Sofia, the Ambassador of Cyprus to Bulgaria, and the Ambassador of Italy to Bulgaria, who emphasized the importance of European unity, cultural exchange, and active partnership between institutions, business, and society.

The program offered a variety of activities and entertainment for both young and older visitors. Guests had the opportunity to experience the cultural richness of various European Union member states through tastings of traditional foods and beverages, presentations of national traditions, and artistic performances. The young performers created a particularly festive atmosphere as they presented traditional dances and music from various European countries, earning enthusiastic applause from the large audience.

The event became a true celebration of European identity and the strong partnership between institutions, diplomatic missions, business organizations, and civil society. For our chamber, participating in such initiatives is not only an opportunity to showcase its members, but also an important demonstration of our commitment to European values, sustainable development, and active public dialogue.
