The Association of Bulgarian Cities and Regions is a non-governmental organization bringing together municipalities and experts with the aim of supporting local self-government and regional policies in line with European standards. The organization works to strengthen the administrative capacity of local authorities through analyses, trainings, consultations, and participation in the development and implementation of strategies and plans for sustainable development, social inclusion, economic growth and green transition.
ABGR organizes conferences, forums and working meetings, implements national and international projects, and supports municipalities in introducing innovative policies (including energy communities, social entrepreneurship and digitalization). It also facilitates partnerships between local authorities, businesses, academia and civil society organizations. The Association provides expert assistance public policies and local governance; European policies and programs; social policies and social entrepreneurship; energy and green transition (including energy communities); economic development and investment environment; youth, cultural and sports activities; international cooperation and exchange of best practices among municipalities. The Association provides expert assistance, exchange of good practices and a platform for cooperation at local and European level.
